Housing and Homeless Services

Resource Center

A Cornerstone for Day Services, Support, and Connections

The Resource Center, part of the Nevada Cares Campus and operated by the Washoe County Human Services Agency (HSA), serves as a welcoming entry point for individuals experiencing or at risk of homelessness. Unlike overnight shelters, the Resource Center provides essential daytime services, guidance, and resources to help residents meet immediate needs and take steps toward stability.

Here, individuals can access meals, showers, laundry, restrooms, and a safe space to plan next steps. The Resource Center also connects residents with case management, community programs, and campus services, helping them navigate challenges, regain independence, and work toward long-term stability.

How We Support Individuals Experiencing Homelessness

Day Services and Access to Essentials: The Resource Center provides a safe, structured space where residents can access meals, showers, laundry, restrooms, and areas to charge electronic devices. The center serves as a hub for connecting individuals with services and information to meet immediate daily needs.

Resource Navigation and Community Connections: The Resource Center connects residents to programs across the Nevada Cares Campus, including temporary shelter, emergency services, Safe Camp, and housing support. Staff also provide referrals to employment programs, health services, and other community resources to help residents regain independence and work toward permanent stability.

Mail and Communication Services: Participants can receive mail at the Resource Center, providing a stable point of contact as they work toward stability. Staff assist with mail handling and help residents stay connected with services and community resources.

Supportive Case Management: Staff and partner agencies meet one-on-one with residents to assess their needs and develop personalized plans for stabilization and housing. Case management includes guidance on behavioral health, medical services, and navigating resources on and off-campus.

Building Daily Stability and Pathways to Independence

The Resource Center plays a unique, daytime role within the Nevada Cares Campus. By providing essential services, guidance, and connections, the center helps individuals address immediate challenges, plan for the future, and steadily work toward self-sufficiency.
