Housing and Homeless Services

Nevada Cares Campus

Providing Shelter, Support, and Pathways to Stability

The Nevada Cares Campus, operated by the Washoe County Human Services Agency (HSA), provides a welcoming and supportive environment for individuals experiencing homelessness. The campus offers temporary shelter, access to essential services, and connections to resources that help residents stabilize their lives and work toward long-term independence.

Our team focuses on meeting critical needs such as housing guidance, meals, hygiene, and case management while connecting residents with programs and resources that promote stability and self-sufficiency. Compassionate staff and partner organizations work together to ensure that every person receives care, respect, and the opportunity to take meaningful steps toward a more secure future.

How We Support Individuals Experiencing Homelessness

Temporary Shelter and Day Services: The campus provides ongoing temporary shelter for individuals in need. Residents have access to meals, showers, restrooms, laundry facilities, and spaces to recharge devices. Staff assist with planning next steps, connecting residents to case management, and linking them to community resources.

Emergency ShelterAs part of the campus, the Emergency Shelter offers 24-hour, short-term shelter for adults in crisis. It provides secure sleeping areas, immediate meals, and hygiene resources. During extreme weather or hazardous air quality, the Emergency Shelter expands capacity to ensure safety for all. Staff work directly with residents to stabilize their situation and connect them to longer-term campus programs, including case management and housing support.

Safe CampThe Safe Camp program provides a supervised outdoor option for unsheltered individuals who are not able to access indoor shelter. Safe Camp offers basic hygiene facilities, meals, and case management support. Residents are guided toward resources at the campus and in the community, including housing, employment, and health services, helping them transition safely and steadily into more permanent housing.

Supportive Case ManagementStaff and partner agencies meet one-on-one with residents to identify needs, connect with behavioral health and social services, and develop personalized plans for stability and housing. Emergency Shelter and Safe Camp residents receive additional support focused on crisis stabilization and transition planning.

Resource CenterThe campus links residents to health services, employment support, housing programs, and other community resources to help individuals regain independence and move toward permanent housing.

Mail and Communication Services: Participants can receive mail at the Resource Center, providing a stable point of contact as they work toward stability. Staff assist with mail handling and connecting residents to other services.
