Senior Ambassadors
Strengthening Our Community Through Senior Ambassadors
The Senior Ambassador Program was created to expand services for seniors living in rural areas of Washoe County. Volunteers help combat senior hunger and isolation by delivering meals, connecting seniors to resources, and offering social support. All volunteers receive training and guidance to ensure a positive impact. This program is funded through a Community Development Block Grant and was approved by the Board of County Commissioners.
Ambassador Roles and Responsiblities
Senior Ambassadors serve as community leaders and advocates for older adults. They participate in outreach and educational efforts, assist with events, and provide feedback on programs and services. Ambassadors help ensure that seniors living in rural areas have access to meals, resources, and social support.
Opportunities Include:
- Delivering meals and offering friendly visits to homebound seniors
- Connecting seniors to services and community resources
- Supporting social activities and programs at rural senior centers
- Promoting awareness of senior needs and available services
- Encouraging other volunteers and community members to get involved
Building a Community That Supports Aging Well
Through the dedication of Senior Ambassadors, Washoe County Senior Services fosters a community where older adults are recognized, supported, and included in every aspect of civic life. By combining ambassador efforts, volunteer activities, and collaboration with residents and local partners, the program creates meaningful opportunities for engagement, leadership, and connection.
