Regional Data and Policy
Guiding Decisions with Insights and Information
Washoe County Housing and Homeless Services collects, analyzes, and shares data to guide policy and improve services for individuals experiencing homelessness. By using regional data, the Division informs decisions, identifies gaps in services, and ensures resources are directed where they are most needed.
The Division also develops policies and procedures that provide consistent standards of care across programs and agencies, strengthening the overall response to homelessness in Washoe County.
How We Support Policy and Planning
Data Collection and Analysis: Information from the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) and other sources is used to track trends, measure outcomes, and inform program improvements.
Policy Development: Data-driven policies guide service delivery, funding decisions, and regional coordination to ensure effective, equitable, and accountable services.
System Monitoring and Improvement: Continuous evaluation of program outcomes and resource utilization supports planning, goal-setting, and long-term strategies to prevent and end homelessness.
Using Data to Strengthen the System
Through evidence-based insights and strategic policy guidance, Washoe County ensures that housing and homeless services are effective, coordinated, and responsive to the needs of the community.
