Reno Justice Court

The Reno Justice Court currently sends SMS (text) notifications to a party/parties under some circumstances and when a party/parties has provided a mobile telephone number to the court. Please see below for a description of each message the court currently sends as well as a sample of the message. All notifications are sent from the number (775) 204-1972.

Please note: Notifications sent from another number and/or containing different information than what is noted below may not have been sent by the Reno Justice Court. In rare circumstances, the court may send out a notification not listed below in the event of unexpected court closure or other emergencies.

Please contact the court by telephone at (775) 325-6500 with any questions or concerns about a SMS notification you may have received. You may opt out of text notifications by replying "STOP" to any message, but please be aware of any upcoming due dates or payments. Notifications are currently sent for the following events:

Upcoming Hearings - a notification is sent one week and one day before the scheduled hearing.

"This is Reno Justice Court with a reminder of your court date on <YOUR HEARING DATE AND TIME> for <YOUR CASE NUMBER>. Please arrive 30 mns prior to the hearing start time. If you have any questions, please call the Reno Justice Court at (775) 325-6500. DO NOT REPLY TO THIS TEXT MESSAGE"

Specialty Court Evaluations - a notification is sent when the hearing is scheduled and one day before the scheduled hearing.

"This is Reno Justice Court reminding you of your Evaluation on <YOUR HEARING DATE> at <YOUR HEARING TIME>. Please arrive 15 mins early. Please call Liz at 775-325-6574 if you have questions. DO NOT reply to this text."

Payment Plan Payment Due - for party/parties currently utilizing a payment plan, a notification is sent before the payment due date.

"You have a payment of <YOUR PAYMENT AMOUNT> for <YOUR CASE NUMBER> due at the Reno Justice Court on <YOUR PAYMENT DUE DATE>. If you have any questions, please call the Reno Justice Court at (775) 325-6500. DO NOT REPLY TO THIS TEXT MESSAGE"

New Civil Infraction Citation - for party/parties with a mobile phone number or email on record, a courtesy notification is sent when a new civil infraction citation is filed by the court.

"This is Reno Justice Court with a reminder that action is required on your civil infraction citation case. Pursuant to NRS 484A.704 you are required to respond to the citation no later than <YOUR APPEAR BY DATE>. If you fail to respond by this time, the Court will enter an order finding that you committed the civil infraction and will assess the monetary penalty and administrative assessments prescribed for the civil infraction. If you have any questions, please visit the Reno Justice Court website (www.washoecounty.gov/rjc) or call (775) 325-6500. DO NOT REPLY TO THIS MESSAGE. ANY REPLY TO THIS MESSAGE WILL NOT BE CONSTRUED AS A RESPONSE TO THE CIVIL INFRACTION CITATION"
