Mission Statement
The mission of the Washoe County Regional Medical Examiner's Office is to investigate unexpected and unexplained deaths in order to identify and report on the cause and manner of death. We apply scientific investigative techniques and medical procedures, using integrity and compassion to serve families and public agencies impacted by sudden unexpected death.
Staff
The office is staffed by highly trained, compassionate and dedicated individuals to include a Chief Medical Examiner/Coroner, a Deputy Chief Medical Examiner, three Assistant Medical Examiners, an Operations Manager, three Medicolegal Death Investigator/Technician Supervisors, fourteen full-time Medicolegal Death Investigator/Technicians, an Administrative Assistant I, two Forensic Medical Transcribers, a Medicolegal Data Specialist, and several part-time Medicolegal Death Investigator/Technicians.
Service Area
Washoe County is the primary jurisdiction of the Regional Medical Examiner's Office. It also services thirteen additional Nevada counties and five California counties through interlocal agreements.
New Facility
In January 2017, the Washoe County Regional Medical Examiner's Office moved into a brand new, state-of-the-art facility located at 990 East Ninth Street in Reno, Nevada.
