Open Space and Regional Parks Commission
The Washoe County Board of Commissioners is seeking applicants from the community to serve on this board.
The purpose of the Parks Commission is to act in an advisory capacity to the Board of County Commissioners. Examples of items that come before the Board include District and Park Master Plans; schedule of priorities for acquisition and development of park property; purchase, lease or exchange of lands for recreation or park purposes; and rates and charges for services and facility use.

Membership
This position is for a partial term beginning on the date of appointment and ending on November 4, 2027. Thereafter, the member may seek an additional consecutive term.

Time Commitment
The Commission meets on the fourth Wednesday of every other month at 1:30 p.m. (January, March, May, July, September, November). Members receive no compensation.

Washoe County Board of Adjustment (BOA)
The Washoe County Board of Commissioners is seeking applicants from District 4 to serve on this board.
The purpose of the Board of Adjustment (BOA) is to hear and decide on applications for land use issues (e.g., special use permits, variances, administrative permits, and certain types of appeals).

Membership
This position is for a 4-year term beginning on July 1, 2025 and ending on June 30, 2029. Applicants must live within Commission District 4 of unincorporated Washoe County. Applicants must also be registered voters (this requirement may be waived by the Washoe County Board of Commissioners).
Unincorporated District 4 generally includes Sparks, Spanish Springs, Hidden Valley, and portions of the East Truckee Canyon area.

Time Commitment
The Board meets the first Thursday of each month at 1:30 p.m. in the Washoe County Commission Chambers. Meetings average 3 to 4 hours in duration. Special meetings may be called by the Chair.
Each member of the BOA is compensated $80.00 per meeting attended.

Washoe County Planning Commission
The Washoe County Board of Commissioners is seeking applicants from District 4 to serve on this board.
The Planning Commission hears and decides on applications for abandonments, certain special use permits, and subdivisions; the Commission also makes recommendations concerning the County’s Master Plan, regulatory zone changes, and development code amendments which regulate land use in Washoe County.

This position is for a four-year term beginning on July 1, 2025 and ending on June 30, 2029. Applicants must live within Commission District 4 of unincorporated Washoe County and be a registered voter (this requirement may be waived by the Washoe County Board of Commissioners).
