Citizen Advisory Boards

Citizen Advisory Boards (CABs) are organized meetings held on a regular basis for the purpose of bringing community members together to discuss topics of interest within their neighborhood, express ideas and concerns to Washoe County staff, and hear from subject matter experts.

There are nine CABs representing different geographical regions within Washoe County, divided by district and areas with similar concerns. These are:

  • East Truckee Canyon
  • Gerlach/Empire
  • Incline Village/Crystal Bay
  • North Valleys
  • Spanish Springs
  • South Truckee Meadows/Washoe Valley
  • Sun Valley
  • Warm Springs/Rural
  • West Truckee Meadows/Verdi Township

See the CAB Boundaries Map here.

CABs are comprised of five At-Large positions with a Chair and Vice-Chair, as well as two Alternate positions who will aid in the absence of an At-Large board member. CABs adhere to open meeting law, and citizens are encouraged to attend to provide public comment.

CAB Members are appointed by the Commissioner within their district for staggered three-year terms. To apply for consideration to be a CAB member, click here.

Pending development projects will hold separate neighborhood meetings specific to that development which will occur early in the development planning process. The purpose of the neighborhood development meetings is to integrate community feedback into development plans before they are submitted to the County for approval. An update on development projects may still be presented at CAB meetings, however the purpose of the CAB is to focus on points of interest apart from providing input on development projects.

Each CAB has set meeting dates and times: 2021 CAB Meeting Schedule. The 2022 CAB Meeting Schedule will be created soon.
